Built in the late 1980s in the mountains of Mátra, Bérc Hotel*** had been a popular and well-attended tourist facility until 2006. However, the hotel could not meet the written and unwritten requirements of a cutting-edge recreation facility anymore, so the QUAESTOR Group decided to modernize the property.

The new LIFESTYLE HOTEL****MÁTRA, opened on 28 October 2011 is the first Hungarian mountain lifestyle hotel to provide programmes and services to facilitate recreation, self-realisation, and refreshment of body and mind in the context of a harmonic lifestyle. In addition to recreational services, the hotel aims to provide enhanced experience to its guests, as its hallmark "lifestyle" designation implies.

The furnishings of all 114 rooms and apartments are inspired by nature. Ninety-four rooms are of a standard type, including 4 disabled adapted, 24 connected, 15 junior, 2 family, and 3 lifestyle suites. All rooms include basic features such as air conditioning, bathroom with shower or bath, LCD LED TV with satellite channels and USB media connectivity, phone, minibar, laptop-size strong-box, suitcase holder, hair dryer, and free WiFi internet access to provide guests with supreme comfort and convenience.

The hotel’s spa philosophy is focused on Hungarian products and certified natural and organic materials. In a 1,200-m² area, AMETHYST Spa offers various health treatments including special treatments using authentic resources and private wellness care such as rasul spa treatment. Couples can enjoy private wellness treatment in a Hammam-style treatment room, an exclusive two-person steam cabin, or a relaxation room equipped with water beds. AMETHYST SPA also offers a special sauna world resembling a forest, dozens of bathing and hydrotherapy pools, vitamin bar, relaxation areas and sunbathing terraces. While parents enjoy various recreational services, a unique playroom called, KIS GIDA JÁTSZÓHÁZ (playroom for kids) will provide professional babysitting and entertainment for small children. Indoor facilities for active recreation include a meditation room with full-panorama, a cardio-fitness studio and a meditation garden. Gastronomy

The most important elements of the hotel’s gastronomic concept embrace fresh food, no flavour enhancers, and a unique blend of modern kitchen technology trends and local palóc traditions in the context of a personalised, healthy lifestyle. All this is supported by a production facility based on state-of-the-art European kitchen technology, sous-vide cooking technology, and a forest-style 360° panoramic restaurant, called ARAGONIT, accommodating up to 220 guests, with a buffet offering a variety of dishes each day to serve any kind of eating habits and food preferences.

In addition to modern Hungarian gastronomy, LIFESTYLE HOTEL****MÁTRA places great emphasis on promoting domestic wine culture. The hotel’s wine concept was developed by a WSET Certified Educator, an international certificate in wine and spirit education. Our advanced portion control technology enables guests to order a glass of racy wine for their meal for an affordable price instead of bottle price. The hotel’s wine concept is characterised by a comprehensive, timeless style, which fits the menu.

The hotel’s active programme offer also includes a cocktail and coffee bar, and a bowling alley on the ground floor. PIRIT BAR & BOWLING features a 4-lane bowling alley with automatic bumper technology for children entertainment.

Events

The hotel is an ideal venue for company events, conferences and training courses. On the first and third floors, there are four event halls with natural light, called ACHAT, ANTIMONIT, OPALIT and ARGENTUM, named after minerals found in Mátra, with their colours and atmosphere evoking the respective minerals (agate, antimony, opal and argentum). The event halls can accommodate a total of 415 guests. The biggest banquet hall, offering a 360° panoramic view, is an ideal venue for exclusive family events and weddings, with a capacity of up to 210 seats in a theatre seating plan.  There are also three large halls with terraces hosting 42, 68 and 95 guests respectively. The latter one can be divided into three sections. Each hall features air conditioning and state-of-the-art conferencing equipment.
